Join us for a presentation and Q&A panel on September 13th at 6:30pm. The conversation will be held at the Davidson Town Hall & Community Center (251 South St., Davidson, NC 28036).

Community experts will be presenting and answering your questions!

Panelists & speakers include:

• Denae Ayers, Regional Outreach Coordinator, Queen City Harm Reduction
• Dr. John Brunelle, Psychologist, Novant Health
• Koa Goode, Clinical Social Worker, CriSyS Mecklenburg County
• Leslie Parks, Student Assistant Program Counselor, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools
• Wanda Wiggins, Community Engagement Officer, United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)

They will discuss items, such as:

• What is fentanyl? Why is it dangerous?
• What is Xylazine/Tranq? Why is it dangerous?
• Do these substances affect us in the Lake Norman region?
• If I suspect my child is using drugs, what do I do?
• Why do youth start using drugs?
• What are some resources I can access for overdose prevention and treatment?
• What are the signs of an overdose? If someone is overdosing, what do I do?

Have other questions? Bring them! We will do our best to answer as many of your questions as possible and connect you with folks who can answer them.

Audience:

This event is geared toward an adult audience, with our panel offering a frank discussion of drug use, overdose prevention, and the adolescent mind. That being said, we are not aware of anything distinctly inappropriate for young people to hear, especially with their parents present to answer questions and provide context. However, you would be the best judge of your child’s maturity and we leave it up to parents and caregivers to decide if they’d like to bring their children.
